We just arrived in Lima and after eating an excellent Cevice (the most classic fish dish of the Peruvian coast) at the Ceviceria / restaurant "Punto Azul" we went to the restaurant "Siete Sopas". At first glance it seems like a large franchise restaurant of an American chain, but no, it is a Peruvian with experience in local cuisine who has opened a few restaurants where he offers typical "Criolla" cuisine. Simple, abundant dishes that introduce you to the local culture. The main dish is the soups, good, tasty and completely different from Italian ones, the basic soup is the "Criolla" soup. All the dishes are good, unique, "lomo saltado" is very well interpreted. In the winter, a great drink is a carafe of "calentito", an infusion of Amazonian fruit served hot with pisco. The prices, despite being in Miraflores, are moderate, a lomo saltado, a meat-based dish, 34 S/ = 8 euros.

Calentito is made with ingredients available in each locality. It can be chamomile, lemon verbena, chincho tea, mint, muña tea, and/or spearmint. Sometimes it also includes spices, such as cinnamon or cloves. It can also include apple and pineapple, flaxseed, and barley. For sweetness, sugar, syrup, or honey are used. And, of course, whatever liquor is on hand, usually cañazo tea. Calentitos are usually sold at night, in the main squares or markets, where the activity starts very early or ends very late.

We just arrived in Lima and went to eat an excellent Cévice (the most classic fish dish of the Peruvian coast) at the Ceviceria / restaurant “Punto Azul”. It was recommended to us by Arianna, who discovered this restaurant during one of her first trips when the Luna brothers opened the restaurant in Surco. The cuisine is excellent, we tried several dishes: "Causa de pulpa de cangrejo" and a beautiful "Chupe de Pescado o Langostino" - fried fish fillets with tasty shrimp dipped in a special soup / broth cooked to perfection with pumpkin, broad beans and fresh cheese. A tradition of the Peruvian coast cuisine!
